Later on I did a small project. The door hardware on our porch was getting sad looking, so while I was painting the porch I reworked the door hardware. After a good polish and laquer job I lubed it all up and reset it.
Now Granny is happy! But the peace and quiet did not last long.
The sky got dark, then the thunder started; Next was the lightning! And then - THE RAIN!!!
It wasn't long before the lightning got much worse and then; THE LIGHTS WENT OUT!! BIG TIME.
Of course we were prepared. After the initial screams and hoots, we got the kids to calm down. I got out the trusty camp lanterns and all was well.
In fact, we kinda' got into the mood;
Scrabble is fun by lantern light. Especially when Noah is explaining how we could generate power with a bike.
Mom had other plans for waiting out the storm:
She grabbed a book, a portable light and a spot on the front room sofa to read until it was safe to get on the road with the kids.
Ah yes; The kids...
Noah was a spooky guy for Rachel when she organized a mystery story. Aaron managed to keep himself busy with a battery powered, hand-held video game. The girls went out on the porch occasionally to check out the progress of the storm.
Rachel organized a fun mystery game...
And Eve performed a "rain dance"...
Soon, the rain slacked up and just about stopped. Torie got the kids into the Plymouth "van-da-monium" and hit the road about 9:00. We left the doors and windows open until we went to bed about 11:00 PM. Power was restored at 12:54 AM Sunday morning. We know the time exactly since there were lots of things left on to alert us of the time.
A quick inspection this morning showed that we had little damage beyond some tree limbs and wind-blown debris. Some areas are still without power today, but reports say that should be corrected by this afternoon.
I am headed to an Eagle cerimony this afternoon. Denny just got a nice haircut from Alice, and all is well.
Until the next perfect storm, I'll be seein' ya'...

Great photos! The kids had a blast with the lights out (loud phone)! I'm glad Eve could navigate y'all, successfully, to H.D. She looks so confident in her sunglasses.
I was afraid you were going to tell us that the rain washed off your paint!
Fun is fun even in unusual circumstances. Kids love different conditions.
Love.
Noah lost interest in the Scrabble game when it appeared as if he might not win. Aaron took over and did a great job but was whisked away home before we finished. He is a good player. At least they had electricity in Lilburn.
Sounds like a good thing that you have so much camping "stuff" so you all could camp "in" at your house. I know the kiddies enjoyed the fun time. Talk to you soon.....
