Now isn't that ironic...

Tuesday started off well enough, but I somehow managed to end up in a bit of a mess. The first hint that things were going wrong was when I came out from work and found I had a dead battery. Apparently, I had bumped a switch and left the driving lights on all day.

A guy I know offered me a jump and I drove home with no problem. I left the car running a while and it started again just fine. One problem overcome!

When Sue got home she suddenly noticed that we had no water. We called our neighbor and verified that no one had water pressure. A call to the county gave us the answer; A lightning strike had interupted power at the water pumping station. Hopefully it wouldn't be too long until water was restored.

Soon we had heavy wind and thunder. Here comes the storm that knocked out the water station! Lightning and HEAVY rain soon had us in the dark. Power went out and we were really getting hit.

We had limbs and leaves all over and lots of standing water.

I headed out to open the scout hut for the meeting and discovered that MY BATTERY WAS DEAD! I rolled down the drive, popped the clutch, and NOTHING. Now I was at the end of the driveway with a dead battery in the pouring rain. I was going to be late.

Then my phone rang. It was my assistant scoutmaster telling me that the meeting was cancelled due to the storm and power outage. Safety first, right. So, time for a jump start - again.

Normally, I would have just hooked up my electric battery booster and had the car running in no time. Oh yeah; The power is out! I got soaked to the skin getting the car going and getting Granny's hot rod back in the barn.

Then, just as I rolled my car back inside; the rain quit. Of course it did, right? I went in to clean up and - no water. I left the car running and just as I got it fully charged (according to the meter this time) the lights came back on.

I went inside, washed my hands and went to bed. What an ordeal!

By the way, my car started just fine this morning; Right after a nice hot shower. Then on the way to work, I heard that we are on a boiled water advisory until further notice. Great...

I figured you'd be happy... you didn't have water at your house then you complained when it materialized out of thin air and fell on your head!

Just kidding, of course. Sorry to hear you had such a trying day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better (afterall, the sun'll come out to... nevermind!).

I heard on the news that about 20 different zip codes in Dekalb County had to boil water. From Avondale to Chamblee and points all over the county. Glad things are looking up for you. Hope the car continues to perform as expected. Talk to you soon. Love ya!!

Great blog! Isnt it always the way? 10 times at once... My car too does not "act up" at the best times. Although we had the power & water outage along with you.. The car problem definitely was a challenge in the dark. And I can say that your night was more challenging than ours for SURE! Hey, at least the scouts know when to cancel things because of weather. Good thinking of their part!!

I heard this morning, we are STILl on a water advisory. Fun fun.

Michael liked the automatic call system that Art used to cancel scouts. They were just about to leave that night, too.

ARGH! Sorry to hear about the car problems! I suppose this has been said more than once, but "DON'T DRINK THE WATER!"

I hope the week is going better! :)

I'm used to drinking about 2 liters of water while at work. This "boil water" advisory is killing me. Tomorrow I'm bringing in my MSR water filter.
