TWO WEEKS IN...

... and things are going well at the new company.
I am working in the applicator group, and starting at the very bottom to acquire the knowledge I need to continue.
HERE IS WHAT WE DO...
The company (shown in header photo) is an industry leader in coatings and adhesives. The base business is to remanufacture equipment used by an amazing cross-section of industries to produce their finished product. Companies from Kellogs to Mercedes Benz use the precision applicators to place their coatings and adhesives EXACTLY where they want them.
SO HERE IS WHAT I DO...
When a used or damaged spray head or "direct applicator" comes in from a customer I get to break it down, (this includes removing all the overspill glue or coating) identify and log all the parts and get them to the correct cleaning section. Metal parts are sent to a high temp "burnoff" while more delicate items go through hand cleaning.
When all of the parts are cleaned and finished (sometimes a light blast or maybe a polish and buff) I get them all back and decide what internal parts must be rebuilt, replaced or simply rewired. Since all of the parts are used in a high temp environment to keep the product liquid and flowing, almost everthing has to be tested with a meter and rebuilt with new parts.
THEN THE FUN STARTS...
After I reassemble a module or unit it must be tested and adjusted before it goes on to final QC (thats quality control for those of you who don't know). Then, hopefully, back out to the customer.
LAST, BUT NOT LEAST...
I am still on a learning curve. There is so much to understand and internalize. There are LOTS of different products and models to get organized in my head. I have started a notebook that will apparently become two books very soon.
I like the place, the people and the work. I am glad to be back in a more organized and technical environment. The owners and management are all very good folks who are very involved with the process and the people. I will soon be studying in the pump division and the melter group. The titles should explain what each group is responsible for.
ALL IN ALL ...
Things are looking good at work. We just landed a new customer who has a LOT of need for our service, and we will be very busy for the forseeable future.
I will share more as things unfold. I will also be posting a BLOG very soon about some fun family and happening.

CONGRATULATIONS RACHEL!! ANOTHER WRITERS AWARD ACHIEVED !
We will be attending her awards cerimony later today.

It sounds like very interesting work. I did very much with Leeds & Northrup. Our products, for the most part, were high end electrical instruments. It is interesting to see how someone figured how to get a job done. Glad you are enjoying the challenge of learning something new.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your job. I learned pretty quick after getting out into the working world that hating your job is never worth the amount of money they pay. Hope things continue to go well for you you. Enjoy it!
