Aaron is a very active scout who is advancing quickly. He will soon be a Life scout - one rank below Eagle! Recently Aaron and Michael decided to visit other troops to see how they operate and what they do for advancement and activities. Tonight they came to my troop, BSA 129 in Tucker.
The meeting went well, even though we were low on scouts due to the summer schedule. Aaron seemed to enjoy his visit and introduced himself and got a good-natured laugh during the opening. The SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) asked some fun questions and Aaron did great with quick-witted answers.
We meet in our own house - known locally as "The Hut". We have a nice building with a big meeting room, donated by some local business owners.
Here is our main room:
One of our members took the time to paint the walls with some great graphics. We have the scouting symbol that is shown behind Aaron in the header photo, and the troop number above the "hot seat". That is the bench for adults.
No matter what, I believe that Aaron will be an Eagle soon. He and his Dad are great examples of the scout spirit...

Nice blog. I'm glad Aaron came for a visit. I hope he moves over to spend more time with you. Scouting was a great experience for Chris and Steve. I know Steve still misses his time with the guys. Every time we move he says he'd like to find a troop to get involved with, but with no child pressing him to do so, life always seems to get in the way...:( Keep on blogging!! Love ya...
Good blog. The Scout Hut looks like a neat place for the Scouts. I wish Aaron well on his Scout journey.
Love.
Good luck to Aaron! Being an Eagle Scout really does help later in life... with resumes and what not. Love ya! :)
Aaron and Michael were impressed with the young men being in charge and the adults listening. Thanks for the invitation. The guys seemed to enjoy the evening.
If so many folks at church didn't view switching troops as a sign of apostasy we'd have switch years ago.
As I stated in my blog, it takes courage to let the boys run the show, but anything less isn't "scouting".
I love you and am so happy that you give your time to uplift the young men of the troop. You are always encouraging Aaron and really appreciate his achievements.
I love the scouting program, in large part because of leaders like you and my dad who understood how the program was supposed to run. I think it's a shame the church continues to drive away the people who love it and would gladly devote their time and talents to guiding teenage boys.
FYI,
Aaron passed his Board of Review this evening and is now a Life Scout.
