Holiday Weekend Stuff...

It is a typical Saturday for us here, except that we get a long weekend to enjoy. I started the day with a bit of spring cleaning on the exterior of the house, with good results I think. I washed the brickwork and trim and cleaned the porch to brighten things up. After that was clean and dry I decided to touch up the little bit of paint we have on our brick house.
Eve was playing in the yard with her boyfriend, Randy. She soon wanted to help me, so I did a Tom Sawyer and told her it was not a job for a little girl. Of course she insisted; And next thing you know...

... I had an apprentice!! I painted the high spots and Eve painted the low places. We did a great job. YAY for teamwork!!!! To quote Heather.
The garage door had been stained by a bit of oil from the door opener and it looked bad. I sealed the stains with some KILZ and painted the door. All fresh and new.

A little later, after most of the family got home from the movies, we had a giant cookie cake for Noah's birthday. It was decorated with a rocket ship and eight candles. The cookie cake was Delicious!!
We all sang "Happy Birthday" and Noah opened his presents. One of the best (to Noah) was the Ben 10 board game. I was roped into being the first one to play, and I was beaten soundly!! Noah just knows more about battling alien monsters than I do.

Later in the day Eve and Rachel put on a play about princesses, fairy god-mothers and a magic horse. It was delightful!! Sugar the pony was a real standout and made the play.

Meet Princess Eve,
Fairy Godmother Rachel
and Sugar, the pony.
Please note that a princess
rides side-saddle!!
This evening we are still busy. We had chicken nuggets and french-fries for dinner and now the kids are watching cartoons, playing pretend or flying alien spaceships on the other computer. Eve has just arrived with her "mobile beauty shop", a small wicker basket full of combs, brushes and old makeup. She has begun a makeover on Granny so that she will look nice for church tomorrow.

I want to close with a shot of a wind chime we got as a gift a while back. I hung it by the end of the house after all the cleaning.

Granny just left to take the kids home and Sugar the pony is back in her stable behind the sofa. I am about to go strip and replace the bed linens and catch the "Britcoms" on TV.
More later on the holiday and Noah's baptism.
I wonder if Sugar has been fed?...

Sounds like a GREAT day. Wish I could share that delicious looking cookie!! The house looks really nice. Keep enjoying the kiddies. They'll be grown before you know it and you'll be teaching them to drive a car instead of a stuffed pony!!! Take Care.
