HOLIDAY TRADITIONS...
For some time now my bride has been the hostess for a traditional New Years Day dinner; Southern style. Sweet Sue always prepares black-eyed peas (for good luck), collard greens (for money) and corn pudding (for dad).We also enjoy a honey-baked ham and a whole bunch of other dishes from our guests, most of these delicious recipes being family favorites as well.
AFTER THE FEAST...
We gather for an old fashioned "white elephant" exchange. This year a few folks were sick and could not join us, but Tom and his family joined Mom and dad along with our daughter, Victoria, and her family; All in all, a good crowd.THE SILLY GIFTS VARIED...
From oddball novelties that made teens question there dad's sanity...... to outmoded electronics that were almost as old as the recipient.
But in the end some folks actually got some useful items, like this unique locking wrench. But best of all...
we had a lot of fun!!
... even the quiet, mature types.
AND AFTER THE PARTY ENDED...
Things quieted down and got back to normal for the revelers...
...and we got to enjoy some tasty left-overs while we set about clearing away the dishes. The ham sandwiches were quite good and there was even a bit of turkey and dressing left for a mid-night snack.
So, from our family to yours
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BEST WISHES TO ALL...
