SPRING CAMPOREE...

... AND SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGELike morning formation with all the guys, the flags and sunday services by the lake. The food was great; the guys made donut holes for dessert. The "spring" weather was cold, wet, damp and windy. But the company was as good as ever. As our camp neighbors prove. In other words, camp life (and the annual spring camporee) haven't really changed much since 1978. SO HOW DID THE GUYS DO?
The best news is that we scored a solid 90% on sleeping warm and dry; even the newest scouts. That's good news, considering we had over 2 inches of rain over night....followed by the arrival of lots of POLLEN!
AND NOW, THE "GOLDEN AXE"...there was sawing... Splitting and whittling... And finally a flame, a fire, and the first string was burned through!! Soon the second string was gone. And a pancake (of sorts) was cooked... ...and eaten. Congratulations to our competitors, Troop 343 of Dunwoody.
WE DID PRETTY WELL, OVERALL After cheering for our former rivals, the Golden Axe trophy was awarded. Then we got a few awards for Troop 129 to take home.
On the way home we began discussions about summer camp and high adventure for this year.

Other than that, I really didn't do much this weekend...

Looks like fun, but I have to say... Better you than me. Camping in good weather is not really my cup of tea, let alone in the rain!! Glad you guys had fun!! :)

Loved being in Scouts - great to see you still helping to raise all those boys to men! Brings back lots of memories.
