ODD REQUEST, BUT HERE GOES...

My answer to Chris' challenge;
Hill had been silent during the discussion, but the thought of making paint, or perhaps having to paint, upset him greatly. "Bloody paint-makers," he finally spit out. "This is the most fouled-up outfit I've ever seen. I should've stayed in the army!"
From "The War Magician", by David Fischer. A true story that tells the tale of Jasper Maskelyne and his unusual "special operations group" of magicians, set builders and other theatrical prfessionals. This group actually developed unique and never-before-known camoflauge techniques that fooled the enemy into mistaking empty land for cities or false props as entire divisions of troops. A really great read!
I have had this book for years and shared it often with others.

Actually, I think I remember hearing that story on the History Channel once. Pretty cool stuff. How'd you like to be the bomber pilot that flew over that and bombed the heck out of plywood tanks? I bet he felt pretty silly after the war when he found out!

That is one of the best books I have ever read. What he did was just unbelievable.

That sounds SO interesting! Rusty and I have found a Utah state library that lets us download books for free, I'll give it a try.
