Birthday's and stuff...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EVE - 6 YEARS OLD!!!
Granny and Grampa' had the kids (and those two people they live with) over on Sunday afternoon for a small celebration.
One of Eve's gifts was a "WEBKINS", which she soon registered online, with help from Rachel.
Next she opened a Dr. Who play set. If you do not know "The Doctor" you must not have kids (Real or overage) in your house. The coolest thing was Eve's very own DALIK!!! ...Shown here with The Doctor. There was also a sonic screwdriver! The ultimate in intergallactic, time traveling equipment for the six-year old on the go.
Next was the birthday cake! This one was a giant chocolate-chip cookie cake.
Which Aaron lit with the sonic screwdriver! See it in the corner of the picture.Great cake, good times.

IF YOU EVER DISCOVERED A BATHROOM...

...While painting your project; You might be an Eagle! (Apolagies to Foxworthy) And that is exactly what happened this week. This unused restroom turned up when the scouts got a set of keys from the director in order to open dorrs and paint the trim. Not exactly "treasure", but a nice find just the same.
How many scouts does it take to paint a door?

The two Eagle projects at Denny's school have been completed!! And just in time, since the 30th anniversary of the center will be celebrated this Thursday, the 18th. Sue and I have been invited to attend, along with the governor and other luminaries. I am sure we will both be BLOGging about that next week.

SPIDER, MAN...

Victoria told a story about her small hitch-hiker last week. He was a spider that clung to her car (The "van-damonium") until he finally gave up. Another spider took up residence over our front door this week, and Victoria was once again impressed by the beauty of arachnids.

ONE LAST ITEM...

A neighbor who lives near the scout hut has donated all the paint and materials to do a complete refurbish of the old building. The donation was annonymous, and delivered through a member of the troop committee. We have the materials and the first small steps have been taken to scrape, prep, prime, clean and paint the entire structure.

Aaron posed with a test patch of paint. The doors, trim and (yet to be installed ) windows will be green, as shown. The body of the building, that is not brick, will be tan. The colors are no mistake, they are the same colors as a scout uniform. Including windows, we estimate that the donation was over $1,ooo!!

The community here is certainly good to us. More on this project as the fall weather and scouts schedule allows us to get in a few work days.

THE REST OF THE B'DAYS...

Next week I will likely BLOG about the birthday fun for Rachel, Aaron, Grampa' Jim and of course MOM!! It will also be 31 years for Granny Sue and me.

And of course - congratulations Peg and Steve...

Kids are NOTTTT the only ones who love Dr. Who! Rusty and I have watched it religiously since the new shows started, and were big fans back in the 80's! I tried so hard to get tickets in England to see David Tennant AND my other favorite - Patrick Stewart in "Hamlet". I found out too late they had been sold out for mmonths and months. Oh well - So thrilled to see Sue's blog, and now yours. CHeck out David's new blog at www.davidjesselee.blogspot.com
Love, Lisa, Rusty and David Lee

PS - Happy ANniversary - You guys have been an inspiration to lots of couples - esp. those with kids with disabilites. I'm glad Sue was a big flirt at the traffic light...or was it you? Lisa
