A Job Well Done...

... At our house this week.
Today's header photo is Grampa' Jim and Aaron. The picture was actually taken late last fall, so Aaron is now taller than in the picture, but we were headed off to work that day just like we did all this week.

Aaron is an active scout and has been working on several things already this summer. He has been earning money for summer camp and other activities and items, and also earning "service hours" toward his rank advancement. There is also a merit badge for personal management that requires him to log all of his time, earnings and expenses during this time.

I have taken shameless advantage of his services and have been working the poor guy like a rented mule. I mentioned in a previous BLOG that he had cut the front lawn and helped clean up the back porch.

He cut the front again yesterday, as you can see.

And then did this great job on the back porch...
You should know that the pollen and dust were so thick that you needed a mask to go into the porch. It was dirty and nasty!! Now it is clean and comfy; Ready for summertime relaxation. He also revealed the way cool compass that is painted on the porch floor by one of my scouts a few years ago. It was actually invisible under all the dust and pollen before.

Today was so hot that I had to hose poor Aaron down to keep him from melting. But, we also managed to clean the gutters and trimwork on the house, and Aaron even cut out a parking space in the back yard woods for my trailer.

So, all in all we got a LOT done. Our house is getting closer to being ready for summertime fun and low maintenance during the hottest part of the year.
Great job Aaron! Have a lot of fun at scout camp and - BE PREPARED...

Haha, I remember that badge as well. It was a real pain in the butt! My dad did a good job of keeping me busy too. I guess if he is getting that far along he must be near his Eagle? I remember that being one of the last ones I got, but that may be because they added it as a requirement then. Anyways, congratulations to him.

I'm glad he could help you out. He went straight form there to our Scout hut and helped me get the truck packed for camp. And then he did a stellar job as our Troop's SPL helping to organize the menus and other details for camp. Now he's negotiating with his mother to stay up all night playing video games. I'm gonna hook a small generator to him and power the air conditioner to cut down our electric bill.

Hey! Haed work never hurt anyone. It is better to learn how to earn your keep early in life. There are some people who think manual labor is a dead Mexican.
Love.
