Saturday Morning Confusion

Saturday is waning, and the kids have left with Mom and Dad to get home in time for baths and bedtime. We managed to squezze a lot into our day; as usual.
I managed to cut the grass, and with a bit of help from Eve and the neighbors I got the pine straw beds reset for summer.

I was spreading pine straw after cutting and edging when Eve asked if she could help. Along with Randy, the neighbors little boy, we set to work. Soon Randies Mom and Grandmother came out to look for the kids. Next came a visiting aunt. Pretty soon, without my saying a thing, I had a lot of help with my project.
Things really went well considering that none of the women spoke a word of English and my Chinese is non-existant. I had the whole darn Joy Luck Club out there throwing pine straw and pulling weeds!! The final result was pretty good, I think.
I later learned from my neighbor that the grandmother seemed to believe I was protecting my cabbage crop. What the heck! Whatever works!

Later on I got a bit of help from Noah and Rachel with some maintenance I had to perform.

Unfortunately, I discovered a starter problem on my bike that will require some real correction before I can back on the road. Sorry Tom, I may be a while before we can ride together.

Apparently Noah was moved by our efforts and decided that he needed to get his bike on the road.

Tell me that ain't the face of a future hard-core biker!__________________________________

We finished up the day with some fine art from Noah.

That is me he is sketching on the driveway. Note the attention to detail! I was really wearing a blue shirt and tan shorts. We have been "playing chalk" ever since the kids could walk. We like to outline each kid (or grampa') and fill in the details. It is great fun!!

We finished out the day with a big meal of ARBY'S roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. Thanks Michael and Torie, it was great!!

Nothing beats dinner and a show. Unless it's a little fine art and motorcycle maintenance...

The yard does look fabulous! Too funny about what Randy's grandma thought was going on.

The chalk art is always cool!

Too bad on the bike status, though. :(

About the ant farm you mentioned...I told Rachel it was a special thing to keep at Granny and Grampa's house! :)
